MONIKA

Monika Streitová, flautist, researcher at INET-MD, and Guest Assistant Professor at the University of Évora, graduated from the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts at the University of Bratislava, Slovakia, where she completed her PhD in Contemporary Music Performance in 2005 (Thesis on Sublimation in Music “Ad Libitum”). Her current research interest focuses on the observation and application of contemporary flute techniques that contribute to the creative development of sound. In 2006, her CD “Luminiscence” received the highest critical acclaim from Radio 2, Czech Republic. In 2007, she was awarded an FCT scholarship to conduct postdoctoral scientific research at the University of Aveiro. Throughout this project, she collaborated extensively with contemporary composers, working with R. Berger, J. Y. Bosseur, D. MacMouline, B. Schaffer, J. Guillou, and J. P. Oliveira, among others. Their works have been performed at the most prestigious international contemporary music festivals. Additionally, she has given lectures at UNRIO (Rio de Janeiro), UNESP (São Paulo), New York University (Abu Dhabi), the Lisbon School of Music, the University of Prague, the University of Ostrava, and the University of Bratislava, among others. In 2009, she became a founding member of “Post-ip”, the International Forum for Postgraduate Studies in Music and Dance at the University of Aveiro. Her repertoire includes around 140 world premieres, and she has worked with major broadcasting stations such as BBC, ORF2 Vienna, and BRB Berlin. She has recorded six solo CDs and 12 CDs with various musical groups. Monika Streitová performs both as a soloist and as part of various ensembles, having appeared in numerous countries, including Germany, Austria, the United Arab Emirates, France, Hungary, Japan, the Netherlands, England, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Switzerland, Spain, and Brazil, among others.
